Windows 7 Build 7000 Software Incompatibility List

This entry shall enable all ieXwiki members to create a list of software, that DOES NOT work with Windows 7 Open Beta 1 (Build 7000), so that it's possible to check that even before installation. Feel free to contribute. Thanks for original contributions from jyaniv and Taco Bell.

As Windows 7 is built on the Vista kernel and as Vista has now become a stable platform, any software not listed here can be assumed to work - if you have found otherwise, please help contribute!

NOTES:

• Entries are in alphabetical order.
• Please mention the version/build number of the software and if it applies to the 32-bit and/or the 64-bit beta OS (e.g. "Software vX.XX.XXXX (32- and 64-bit)")!
• On 32-bit Windows 7, 16-bit or 32-bit Windows programs which uses 16-bit drivers or VxDs will not work anyway as on any NT systems. 16-bit fullscreen DOS programs do not work.

• Google Chrome - works for some, not for others - see here for more information
• Live Mesh - disables Aero
• Skype - use beta version 4.0.0.181 or above

Other

• DeskScapes (v2.0 only) - Works only if installed after Dreamscene patch. However, Dynamic Dreams may remove all icons from the Desktop and all Dreams may stop working after a reboot.
• Dreamscene (all versions) - requires a 3rd party patch, more information can be found here.
• No internet connection after upgrade from Vista which was in a w2k domain. Gave "Local access only). Had to do clean install clean to get internet to work.

NOTE: If a product you use is listed below, check with the software vendor for a newer version. In many cases, vendors will provide free update patches or low-cost upgrade options to a newer version. If you have any 16-bit DOS or 16-bit Windows applications, they will never work.

• Super Anti-SpyWare beta 7 - does an instant blue screen of death. Difficult to remove from Win7 if installed on top of. Be sure to remove program (SASW) before beta 7's installation.
