Direct X 9 .dll Pack
- http://emo.toastednet.org/d3dx9_dll_pack.rar - This archive is corrupt. Lotheric 21:56, 21 June 2006 (BST)
- WinRAR says the authenticity information is corrupt - it still extracts the files fine. Hotcakes 12:23, 26 June 2006 [AST]
- The link doesn't work anymore so I looked for a solution and tried installing june 2006 DirectX runtimes and it worked (it says Vista in the list of supported OS). Lotheric 05:02, 27 June 2006 (BST)
- For some reason, Emo often has trouble with corrupt archives, but I'd rather use the official redistributable anyway, so nice work Lotheric.

Duplicates, Multiple Software Versions
- Should we remove entries of old software versions that aren't available for download anymore ? (ex: Flash Player 9 Beta went live with a new build #) Lotheric 17:15, 28 June 2006 (BST)
- @Lotheric: I see the arguments for keeping and removing the older versions, if you are using a new OS why keep an old unavaliable version of an App, but then again, some older versions are more reliable, or have better features and that sort of thing, but personally, if I am using a flashy new OS, I want flashy new apps, so my opinion is get shot of the old unavaliable versions. - Sorry for the delay in my response, but ever since I got back from vacation, I've been busy catching up on things.
In general, I would say that we should keep the entries for old software versions as they still have merit and add to the page's completeness. Also, you can always find some mirror to download the old version if you feel so inclined.
The one exception I would raise is the case of a piece of beta software (e.g. WLM 8) being released. In that case, I would remove the old beta entries upon confirming the compatibility of the official RTM/RTW version.
Additionally, we'll be resetting this whole compatibility list upon the release of each RC, so these will get washed out over time anyway.

Software Related Issues
[edit]
Oblivion note about installer and dx9 workaround.
- I had absolutely no issues with oblivion, that was the game that made me switch to vista fully from xp. I installed it 100% cleanly and had absolutely no error messages or anything. The patch doesn't work for me, but that is because I am using the european version of the game. Is this an issue that others have noticed? Nimmo 14:50, 29 June 2006 (BST)
- I think all the issues people are getting with games are derived from ATI drivers (I'm one of them) and I found out that downloading DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2006) fixed it (the work-around link wasn't working anymore so I looked for another solution). Lotheric 18:12, 29 June 2006 (BST)
- Fair enough. I am using the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, but then again, it isn't using the ATI drivers, but the microsoft defaults, as I can't update the drivers, maybe a trip back to the Dell site will give me some ore recent ones, but I won't be holding my breath. Nimmo 19:33, 29 June 2006 (BST)

Pinnacle Studio 10
- I tried to install Pinnacle Studio 10 and then upgrade to 10.5.2 patch and No Luck says it is a missing odcb32.dll file! McoreD 13:18, 12 June 2006 (BST)
- I also have a JVC GRHD1 camcorder, Vista regonized it but will not allow it to capture video via movie maker 2 McoreD 13:18, 12 June 2006 (BST)

Prey Demo
- Someone posted here that the Prey demo didn't like Vista. After getting hold of the demo myself i discovered that it does indeed work with no problems whatsoever. So i've edited the list to reflect that. AssassiN 19:09, 24 June 2006 (BST)
- @Modificator: I'm Jecrell, the person who originally modified it. Turns out it's a Vista driver issue for ATI card owners. I'm moving it to the middle section to reflect this. Add notes if you like, but it doesn't work perfectly for everyone with Vista Beta 2 yet, unfortunately. Here's a reference link: http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=18755 "ERROR: The current video card / driver combination does not support the necessary features." "This is showing up with people trying to run it on vista with beta drivers that don't actually have correct opengl support. I believe the current ATI vista drivers fall in this camp. Vista beta is not supported." - Brian Karis of 3D Realms Jecrell 22:19, 26 June 2006 (BST)

WinRAR Context Menu
- [NOTE: Context menu items don't do anything in account with administrator privileges (UAPs fault?), works fine with built-in Administrator account.] McoreD 10:59, 9 June 2006 (BST)
