Accelerated Graphics Port - Developed sometime in the late 90's, this was the solution for graphics cards to have a direct connection going to the CPU. When this technology first came out, a lot of people thought it was worthless, including 3DFX. Thanks to NVIDIA, ATI and other numerous hardware vendors, AGP has now become the industry standard.
